The Pain of Being, Part 2
I watched in silent dread as that old flicker grew and spread about the land. It rose in a great blazing ball as though ready and eager to stir, cook, and consume the life sprawling beneath its fiery mass."Oh look!" He exclaimed. "What a great sunrise!"
"hmmmmm" I replied faintly.
I listened to the rush of the car's wheels on the pavement. I felt the door latch quivering beneath my fingers. I laid my head on the glass and closed my eyes. The wheels rushed on and on, unrelenting.
"Yeah. It's nice." I sighed, and carefully slid my hand into my pocket.
"You're tired?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm tired." I replied.
